Modalities Have Changed But Employee Relationship Remains The Same

There was a time when setting up a cafeteria in the office was considered a good move to boost employee relations. Adding a 10% bonus to the paycheck because of delay in deposit of salary in the preceding month was considered a good move because everybody likes extra money.

However, time and circumstances have changed. When bulk of your employees are situated halfway across the globe and work for you on a freelance and contractual basis, how are you going to maintain employee relations? Is it even necessary? Well, it is a misconception that the employee must work in the same office as yours to maintain good relations.

The basic reason why you should focus on employee relations is to extract the best out of your workers. The modalities of maintaining good employee relationships may change because you are working online but it certainly does not cease to exist.

Promptness in making payment is one of the best ways of winning over employee loyalty. From content writing to web designing – there are many activities that can be performed at home and transmitted over the internet. Irrespective of whether you are dealing with a freelancer or a full time employee, paying money on time is the minimum that you should do to show that you respect the efforts of your employees.

The internet has been marketed as an informal and fun medium of communication. Hence, it does not pay to be excessively formal about different matters. Of course, communicating over e-mail is not the same as sharing a joke in person. However, there is nothing wrong in lightening up the atmosphere by having a casual and informal approach to communication.

This will help you overcome the impersonal nature of internet and will help you showcase yourself as a human being and concerned employer than just somebody who is interested in receiving the mail on time.
